Robert Szot Artist in Attendance for Opening Reception in Dallas October 14, 5-8 pm

Artist in attendance for Opening Reception October 14, 5-8 pm – Dallas, TX

Robert Szot is a well-known force in the Brooklyn art scene. He has resided there for 15 years, painting, and making original printed pieces on paper.

His work has progressed consistently and now embodies a strong, crisp abstraction that curtails any sweetness and strives for balance in form and color.

He is working in oil on linen which is either stretched or mounted on panel, and he is delving into single monotype prints some of which are painted or collaged.

Create Your Version of White With Peacock Alley’s Simply White Designer Bed Series Event in Dallas

Designer Events Dallas

ABOUT DESIGNER BED SERIES

LONG ON TRADITION Saying please. Writing thank you notes. Insisting on a home that’s both beautiful and meaningful. Peacock Alley believes in tradition. And when you spend four decades creating luxurious bedding and bath linens, you create a tradition all your own.

That’s just what Peacock Alley founder Mary Ella Gabler did.

It began in 1973 when she sold 250 patchwork pillows to Neiman Marcus for its storied Fortnight celebration. She chose the perfect name for her new company: Peacock Alley.

By sourcing fabric from the finest, most responsible mills around the world – most notably in Portugal – and having them sewn in our Dallas, Texas workshop by skilled, local artisans, Gabler created a line of high end, luxury linens that you can feel good about purchasing. And they are sure to feel good in return. That’s what we call returning the favor…

Thirty-Five Years in Business

Fabric Protection and Cleaning

When I was 30 years old I started FiberCare Inc., not because I always wanted to be in business but because I didn’t want to teach, I didn’t want to look for a job, and I loved the fabric protection and service business.

Here it is 35 years later and we are still going strong with a high end cleaning business added on.

I could toot my own horn saying most businesses fail in the early years, or even brag that even with a Master’s degree I had never had a business class. I didn’t even know which was net and which was gross, to my Father’s chagrin. So, what was the secret to creating a long lasting business?

The first thing is obvious, hard work. I worked hard during the week and spent the weekends doing paperwork with no computer just a calculator and a few friends doing secretarial duties.

The second thing, was customer service, I offer/ offered a terrific product and caring for my customer was always most important. The third thing was integrity.

I learned quickly that everyday in business is an integrity test. Would I give this designer a bigger referral fee just because my competitor would? Would I give this customer a discount because they were trying to intimidate me by losing a big job if I didn’t ? Would I allow a furniture store to use my company’s good name (FiberCare) but charge inflated prices?

These morality questions weighed hard on me the first months in business, I didn’t like it that everyday I had to deal with these emotional dilemmas. So I made a decision. Integrity is black and white, just like the truth. I would ALWAYS take the high road, my company would always have integrity. I would not be intimidated by the very rich, I would not have my arm twisted by the powerful furniture stores and I will not be threatened by fear or blackmailed by what someone will write on the Internet.

So, thank you to my clients, my designers, my friends, my trusted employees and Patrick, who have all contributed to 35 great years of taking excellent care of your fine furnishings. I have a computer now, I don’t work all weekend anymore but integrity, that hasn’t changed. It’s still black and white.

Sincerely,
Joan Friedman

The Cleaning Company: People often ask us how do we clean? How do we clean carpet, how do we clean upholstery, how do we clean rugs and draperies? I find myself going into a big explanation that probably doesn’t even give my customer the most important piece of information they should know.

We clean your furnishings conscientiously. We are not in a hurry. We care about the results. We want to be proud of our work. We want to you to be satisfied. We want you as a repeat customer and most of our business is repeat customers. For those of you who like details I’ll give you a brief description of how we clean.

Wet Cleaning:

The best way to clean is with water. If your fabric can be wet cleaned that is how we will clean it. First we will vacuum, then we will pre-spray spots to loosen that particular type of stain. Then we will spray the entire piece of furniture with a live enzyme that has a soil releasing agent, then we will rinse the furniture with a special additive. This additive “invites” or “attracts” the soil to it, taking or transferring the soil from your furniture into itself and out of your fabric. The rinse water is not recycled, and your furniture is left nearly dry. We use the same wet method for cleaning carpeting.

Dry Cleaning:

Dry cleaning means don’t use water, use dry cleaning solvent. The unfortunate problem is, that most everyday spots do not release with solvent cleaners. To dry clean furnishings we pre-spray in small areas with the dry cleaning solvent, we employ several different techniques to remove spots and heavily soiled areas. Then we vacuum out the solvent cleaner and repeat on the next area. Silk draperies are cleaned this way, by hand, each spot given individual and detailed attention.
