FiberCare is an invisible, long-lasting finish that protects against spots, stains and spills. FiberCare works by impregnating fibers with co-polymer resins in a mineral spirit base.
This means dust and dirt can’t get trapped within the fiber. Spills can be easily blotted up, dirt and grit can be more effectively removed by vacuuming or damp dusting, thereby, increasing fiber life.
FiberCare can be applied to all fibers, even those that have been temporarily protected with mill level finishes such as Scotchguard or Teflon.
FiberCare protects against both oil-based and water-based stains.
Do use a white cloth towel to blot up spots. Don’t use paper towels or colored towels.
Do blot with a clean towel until no more of the wet spot comes up, on carpet stomp on the towel to get up everything that is wet. Don’t rub.
If you have white wool carpet that has a yellow urine spot on it, do spray it with white vinegar and watch to see the yellow disappear. Then immediately dilute out the vinegar with water, and blot that out. This trick is only for wool carpet ! Don’t leave the vinegar in the carpet.
To now clean the urine out of your nylon carpet use one teaspoon of powdered washing machine detergent, do not use dishwashing liquid, do not use dish washer detergent, make sure your washing machine detergent is bleach free. Put this teaspoon of washing machine detergent in a 16 ounce spray bottle and add a little hot water to melt the crystals, then fill with cool water and shake it. You do now have a bottle of sudsless cleanser!
Do spray your carpet liberally with the sudsless cleanser, work it in the urine with your hands (ok, some of you will have to wear gloves!) and blot or stomp it out with a white towel repeat this until your towel comes out colorless. Do blot out all excess cleanser. If you have wool carpet, do dilute out with clear water.
Do use the sudsless cleanser to damp dust your protected furnishings. Don’t use this on silk, linen or rayon carpet.
Philip Costikyan of Restoration by Costikyan says you should clean your area rugs every four or five years… or every 10 years if a rug is not walked on much. Overcleaning contributes to wear and tear. Really fine silk rugs need be cleaned only every 20 or 30 years.
For treating stains at home, keep a bottle of club soda on hand. Stains caused by pets, coffee, orange soda, red wine, and anything with dye or an acid base are the hardest to remove, and the key is to act quickly. Pour club soda directly onto the area, let the soda absorb into the yarn, and the salt in the soda will neutralize the acid.
Blot again and again, until the residue is gone.
For bloodstains, you should use milk instead, and for soil and grease-based stains, mix 1 part Ivory soap detergent with 16 parts water. If you still see residue when it dries, call an expert.

“My decorator recommended FiberCare and The Cleaning Company to me several years ago, so my expectations for their quality of work was high from the outset. What I did not know initially was that their customer service and follow through are equally as pleasing. Last week they shampooed wall-to-wall carpets in 5 rooms, a staircase and hallway with amazing results. The workers were professional, polite and very capable. When it comes to care and cleaning of fine furniture and carpeting, FiberCare and The Cleaning Company is a winner!”.
